BLKBRD Royce
Braided side lacing is part of this model’s character.
A classic tassel, a long string tassel and a simpler design without lacing around the sides can give very different impressions. Some patterns carry decorative lacing around the opening, while others keep the sides cleaner. The length of the vamp and the shape of the toe matter just as much. Look at the entire shoe, rather than choosing by the tassel alone. The examples below show the current selection; the wider style discussion does not mean every subtype is currently offered.

Another tassel arrangement to compare in the current selection.
BLKBRD's Royce offers braided side lacing in several colors. Bridlen offers the Rufer-last tassel loafer and its Ivy interpretation. Look at the whole shape rather than just the decoration. The Vault adds individual pre-worn or sample pairs when available; their sizes and conditions vary, and sold pairs may not return.
I have always liked the playful side of a tassel loafer. It can work particularly well with jeans, chinos and more relaxed trousers. The leather, color and last will help decide how dressed up the finished outfit feels. If you are comparing a traditional round-toe pattern with a sharper shape, look at the apron and vamp as well. Those proportions can change the shoe as much as its decoration.
