We live in an “Amazon world,” where free shipping has become the expectation rather than the exception. But let’s be clear: there is no such thing as free shipping. Someone always pays for it. Large corporations simply bury that cost into inflated pricing, massive volume, or investor-backed losses. That is not how a small, independent business operates—and it’s not how we choose to operate here.
At The Shoe Snob, shipping is charged as close to cost as possible. Nothing more, nothing less. Rates fluctuate constantly due to fuel prices, global logistics, and carrier increases—especially for international orders. If you see a $30–$40 shipping rate on a small item, it’s because that is what it actually costs to get it to you safely and reliably.
We are not profiting from shipping, nor can we afford to subsidize it. Doing so would mean cutting into already tight margins, which is simply not sustainable if we want to continue offering the products, content, and service that you’ve come here for. Expecting small, specialized businesses to match the shipping economics of billion-dollar retailers simply isn’t realistic.
This business is built on passion, experience, and a genuine desire to bring value to the community—but it is still a business. Absorbing shipping costs, particularly on smaller items, quickly turns into operating at a loss. If you appreciate what we do and want to support it, understanding and accepting fair shipping costs is part of that equation. We aim to be transparent, not gimmicky—and that means charging honestly rather than pretending something is “free” when it never truly is.
The Shoe Snob is a shop that sells its own products but also offers exclusive products on the site, sold by us but shipped by the vendors of said products. You will notice in the product page the Vendor shown directly above the title of the product. This will indicate the shipping rules that follow, also stated in the ‘Shipping Info’ tab on that same product page.
It is important to note that all vendors will have different rules, prices, and timelines of shipping. It is important to read these prior to purchasing.
Please note: When you add multiple products from multiple vendors, you might have multiple shipping charges as the products will be shipped from different places. For example, if you are in the US and you add a pair of Enzo Bonafe shoes (with Free worldwide shipping) a Travel Shoe Tree from The Shoe Snob and some socks from Twinkima.G. You would not pay the shipping for the shoes, but you would pay $20 in total for both of the accessories (2x $10 charges for each Vendor). See it visually below:

THE SHOE SNOB PRODUCTS:
Shipping Timeline: Within 1-3 business days the product ships. During "Sale" periods we aim to ship between 2 -4 days after the time of purchase as the increase in orders affects our ability to be any quicker. UPS ground service takes 1-5 business days to arrive from shipping date. International arrival time is typically 2-7 business days from shipping date.
Saphir Products Labeled 'DS' - Domestic: If your cart has a Saphir product that has 'DS' in the color title, your cart will have two shipments. These products will ship directly from the US Saphir Distributor to you. They use USPS. They will ship within 2-4 business days and USPS ground takes between 2-7 days to arrive. Tracking will be provided.
Saphir Products Labeled 'DS' - International: As the US Distributor does not ship internationally, the products with 'DS' label will ship to my warehouse before shipping your entire order out to you in one parcel. This will shipment by around 2-4 business days.
Courier Used: UPS Ground (US), UPS International (everywhere else) - If UPS is not accepted, we will use USPS, DHL or Fedex depending on availability.
Liable for Import Duties?
If you are based in the US, then no. Anywhere else, you will be liable to pay for import duties

A note about accessory shipping: Unlike footwear, we are unfortunately unable to significantly subsidize shipping costs on accessories. Many of these products have relatively small margins, and in some cases the cost of international shipping can exceed the value of the product itself. Our accessory shipping rates are therefore structured as closely as possible around the actual cost of getting your order to you.
We have introduced weight-based shipping specifically to make smaller international orders more economical. This means that lightweight purchases, such as shoelaces or a single shoe-care product, are no longer charged the same shipping rate as a much larger accessory order.

Import Duties & Taxes
Any import duties, taxes, brokerage fees, or other charges imposed by your local customs authorities are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are determined by your country and are outside of our control.
All parcels are declared at the actual value paid. We do not under-declare parcel values, so please do not ask us to do so.
Refused International Shipments: If you refuse delivery of an order due to import duties, taxes, or other customs charges, we will incur additional carrier and return-shipping fees. $100 will be deducted from your refund to help cover these costs. Any additional non-refundable duties, taxes, or carrier charges incurred as a result of the refusal may also be deducted from the refund.
Remote Area Surcharges
Some destinations are designated as remote areas by our shipping carriers and may incur an additional surcharge. If this applies to your order, we will contact you before shipment and request payment of the difference between our standard shipping cost and the carrier's quoted rate.
Delivery & Responsibility
Your purchase is covered by us while in transit until it has been delivered to the shipping address provided with your order. A signature may be required for delivery.
Once the parcel has been delivered, responsibility for the shipment passes to the customer. If the order is being shipped to someone other than the purchaser—for example, as a gift—the recipient's acceptance of the package constitutes delivery of the order.
Fraud Prevention
Orders with different billing and shipping addresses may be subject to additional review by our anti-fraud system. We understand that there are many legitimate reasons for using a different shipping address, such as delivery to a workplace.
We reserve the right to cancel and refund any order that our fraud-prevention systems identify as presenting an unacceptable risk.
