This Bridlen wholecut oxford is made in black calf on the Char last, built on their Founders Line construction. The wholecut pattern keeps things as clean as they come: one smooth piece of leather across the upper, no cap toe, no brogueing, no decoration to distract from the shape.
That is also what makes it a difficult shoe to do well. With a wholecut, the last and leather have to carry the entire design, and this pair keeps that sharp, formal look without feeling overly plain. A strong option for someone who wants a proper black dress shoe with a touch more refinement than the usual cap-toe oxford.

I did not find this fitting with a deep instep and/or a generous fit. I found it very hugging with a low instep.
